Breast augmentation surgery is intended to enhance the female contour, either correcting asymmetrical breasts, improving breasts that have lost their shape post-pregnancy, or enlarging breasts that have always been underdeveloped.

Breast Augmentation Incision
The breast augmentation incision may be placed in one of three places - either in the crease beneath the breasts, along the the lower border of the areola, or through the underarms. You and your doctor will discuss the benefits of each during your consultation.

Type of Breast Implant

Breast Implant Placement

Once the incision is made, the breast tissue is positioned to create a pocket for the implant. The incision area is sutured, and the surgery is complete. Patients will be ready for a family or friend to escort them home in a few hours. Most San Francisco breast augmentation patients feel comfortable returning to work just a few days after surgery. Anything strenuous, including aerobic exercise, should be avoided for about 3 weeks or more following the procedure.
